I have always been enamored with the thought of bringing life back to a historic place. Not just any old place, but a unique one, such as a gristmill or abandoned church. During the depression years, a circuit preacher, Bob Childress, build beautiful rock churches along the Blue Ridge Parkway and countryside of several counties in Southwest Virginia.
When attending a tour of the Bob Childress Historic Rock Churches, the speaker told me the church would soon be selling the manse (parsonage) that had been vacant for several years. I knew we’d found our historic building!
Our B&B name came from my love to travel on Barn Quilts Trails.
I even designed fabric “West Virginia Barn Quilt Trail” from an extensive photo shoot of barn quilts in Monroe County, West Virginia. It is for sale online at spoonflower.com
We have three barn quilts on our property.
My love for quilting comes from both of my grandmothers and a great-grandmother.
We love giving this old house the TLC that it deserves.
There is plenty to do when a place has been a rental for many decades.
We look forward to having you as our guests at Barn Quilt B&B!
